This kit is used to complete solar systems.
The flow meter/regulator can modulate the system flow and improve the over-tank stratification.
PUMP SOLAR KIT SPECIFICATIONS
Pump Unions (Pump's 25 mm BSP thread to half inch male thread)
Solar-rated non-return valve, solar-rated for both flat panels and evacuated tube applications
15MI Hex Nipple
15FI x 15C Hex Union
15MI x 15C Hex Union
Flow meter/regulator with inbuilt ball valve
The flow meter allows 5L/minute of flow. However, the gauge only reads up to 3L/minute. When the pump is operating at a higher flow, the flow meter is not restricting the flow, but just not readable above 3. Most manufacturers recommend flow setting at 1-2L/min for the best system stratification and in compliance with Clean Energy Regulator CER STC rules.
All fittings can be installed into one cluster before assembly onto the pipework. Note that all the arrows on the flow meter, check valve and pump are pointing to the same direction, up to the roof. Please make sure the solar check valve is the last valve before the collectors, as it needs to be the most downstream to protect the pump and all other fittings from the solar-heated water. The last 2 photos show the 2 ways of assembling them, depending on your system and space available. All valves can be connected by copper pipe too with supplied compression fittings.
NOTE
The solar non-return valve should be installed at the most downstream location, after the pump and flow meter/regulator. This way, all the components attached to the pump and the pump itself are protected from the super-heated solar hot water. The flow meter/regulator can be installed either before or after the pump, depending where you want your ball valve to be for future servicing purposes.
